« September 23rd-25th, 2005 »The Fredericksburg Renewable Energy Roundup 2005
JeepEV and I once again attended the Fredericksburg Renewable Energy Roundup and Green Living Fair for it's sixth year in Fredericksburg, Texas. This year we again had a good showing of EVs from AustinEV and Alamo City EAA, as I showed the Jeep alongside Mark's Toyota MR2, Jim's Toyota Celica, Mark's Geo Metro, Andrew's Toyota Prius, and Austin EV's City-el. In addition to talking for three whole days about EVs, we also got to take the EVs out of the display area one at a time to offer rides to interested parties. I was able to give "test" rides to a decent number of people around downtown Fredericksburg, which was really fun. As I've said before, there's nothing I love more than being able to tell and *show* people what it's like to Drive EV! When the Jeep wasn't sneaking quietly around downtown Fredericksburg, it was entertaining onlookers in the fair grounds with me doing my best to talk as I was once again loosing my voice. Also, I was happy that one of the ACEAA members, Charles, brought along a decent sized photovoltaic panel to the fair. I was able to hook the panel up to the Jeep's 12-Volt system and give it a trickle charge of free, clean solar energy most of the day.
« June 18th, 2005 »Solar Fest 2005
My Jeep and I took place in an EVent today! It was Solar Fest 2005, a local renewable energy fair put on by the Solar San Antonio organization. Jim Seibert and I attended to represent Alamo City Electric Auto Association, our newly-forming local chapter of the Electric Auto Association. Jim's 1992 Toyota Celica EV and my Jeep were on display all day at Maverick Park under a frying hot sun (which was perfect for the vendors showing off their photo-voltaic Solar Panels!). We got a lot of foot traffic around our EVs all day, and as usual I had pretty much lost my voice by 4:00pm from talking all day. :-) More photos of the EVent in Photo Gallery 25.
« April 1st-3rd, 2005 »The Texas Plug-in 2005
JeepEV and I participated in the first ever Texas Plug-in fair the past few days. The fair was held at the Live Oak Civic Center in Live Oak, Texas, in conjunction with the 4th EVer EAA All-chapters conference hosted by AustinEV. The Texas Plug-in was the first time that all of the current Texas chapters of the Electric Auto Association joined forces to host an EVent... and it was a blast. We had vehicles big and small from AustinEV, Houston EAA, North Texas EAA, and the forming Alamo City EAA all together in one place for lots of EV action! Luckily the civic center had made some power avaliable, and I was able to give rides to some people in my Jeep... which I really enjoy doing. I mean, I can talk all I want, but nothing is as good as giving people an actual taste of the experience that is Driving EV! More photos of the EVent in Photo Gallery 25.
« September 24rd-26th, 2004 »The Fredericksburg Renewable Energy Roundup 2004
The first event I had the priveledge of showing my JeepEV at was the fifth annual Fredericksburg Renewable Energy Roundup and Green Living Fair. The show takes place every year in the townsquare of scenic Fredericksburg, Texas, and is a whole weekend packed full of renewable energy and green-related goodness! I showed my Jeep alongside EVs from AustinEV, including Mark's Toyota MR2, and Cara's Henney Kilowatt. We had a very good show, and by the end of each day I had little voice left, after talking to a steady stream of people. Fun!
